How the G8 summit comes out with the Environmental issues for Africa

Highlight was the international community’s pledge on the environment issues. Italian Under Secretary stressed in his speech opening the conference on climate change and human mobility in Africa. The L’Aquila G8 would see the start of a move backed by all the countries in the direction of cutting carbon dioxide production.

What is the G8 ?

The G8’s membership comprises the main industrialized countries. It is not an international organization, nor does it have an administrative staff with a permanent secretariat’ it is rather a process that culminates in an annual Sumit at which the heads of State and Government of the member countries hold talks with a view to finding solution to the main world issues, which are summed up in the final statement.

G8 Members are…

France, United States, United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, Japan, Italy and Canada. The presidency rotates in the same order. European Union , via the European commission attends the G8. But neither chairs nor hosts the G8 Summit.
